For Tomorrow
by Cynthia Jones

Our beacons of yesterday may seem dim
as days go onward, with so much pain

To live by their example,
to learn what they have tought.

We struggle to gain footing,
not one is without...

Trouble. Tribulation. Strife.

We have the ability to look forward
with hope for a better tomorrow

Their struggles for mankind,
and we stand as believers

Look to the past, give to our future.
Live by example, teach what is learned.

It is within each of us, and for each
of us, we must be the promise.

Presidents Day 2007
by Bernard Howe

Presidents Day makes me think
about our county these men molded.
Men who by the grace of God
who fought for us and never folded.

From Washington to George W. Bush
they all have done their best.
Some seem to be better known
while others have unimpressed.

But to each and every President
who has led this county along.
The thing that strikes me most
is how they kept our faith so strong.

When I visited our countries capital
and walked where they once past.
I could not help but think of them
with a pride that's unsurpassed.

So on this here Presidents Day
I will remember them from long ago.
I will rejoice for them
and for the pride they did bestow.
