PANIC
Claude Peter Dhuet
Like a carnivorous animal stalking its prey
It pounces upon me with hardly a word of warning-
This conscienceless monster called panic.
It depleted me of all my positive attributes-
All my avenues of escape are abruptly blocked-
From whence did it come, I do not know-
what can I do? No where to go.
How could it be this is happening to me-
Just a few minutes ago, I was happy as can be-
I was just sitting there, with nary a care-
Not a slight hint, there was danger in the air.
I can hardly breathe, I know I will die-
My heart is racing, blood pressure is high-
I’m shaking all over, don’t know what to do-
If it doesn’t end soon, I know I am through.
Take a deep breath, maybe take two-
It’s happened before, it’s all up to you-
To stop this cruel monster, don’t let it win-
With sufficient resolve, you’ll be happy again.

Comment On This Poem
Comment: Panic is one of the most miserable thing a person can experience. Millions of people at some time are affected by it. People with sensitive natures are particularly affected. Poets are people with sensitive natures. My sincere wish is that it never happens to you..
