Claude Peter Dhuet

We spend too much time-
In vain pursuit-
For things we do not have-
Many which we do not need-
Of much we do not care.

To keep up with the trendy things-
Seem to be our only reason-
Although our old one is still useful-
It seems to be out of season.

We hear the Joneses have one-
Its really mighty fine-
Its new and quite imposing-
Its space age and it shines.

Why not think of the things we have-
The things that really matters-
The friends we have, our loved ones-
The people for which we care.

These are the things that make life worthwhile-
Not baubles nor possessions galore-
We can own so many worthless things-
Most of which we oft ignore.
