High road

now the time has come for farewells
fondly and begrudgingly let go
like the last petals expiring off the bud
a wiltered soul I own and protect

spring will refresh my existence
but for now I cling to yesterdays sun
a stark reminder of all my blessings
that the earth now needs to recycle

high above the clouds I ride
on route , another trip for newness
maybe the cracks will fill with layers oftime
like hungry beach sand engulfing a wreck.
