OUR LIFE IS LIKE A ROSE, by Claude Peter Dhuet

Claude Peter Dhuet

Our life is like a rose,
Of this I can explain,
We start with bare essentials,
To try to seek our fame.

As we mature thorns oft appear,
To block our paths each day,
This makes us try some other path,
To find a better way.

Then buds appear, it means our life,
Has almost reached a peak,
We wonder if our goals have been,
The ones that we should seek.

In time these buds, they blossom out,
We are at our very best,
We revel in our glory,
And then its time to rest.

Gradually the petals slowly fade,
They barely can hang on,
We know that life is ebbing,
We haven't very long.

We're in the autumn of our years,
The petals fall one by one,
And when the last one fall we know,
That life is nearly done.
