THE VOICE - by Claude Peter Dhuet

What is this voice
That I discern,
Whispering within my mind?
A voice so soft
I can hardly hear,
As if from afar
But seeming so near.

Sometimes the words are very clear,
But sometimes just a jumbled lot,
It tells me things I want to hear,
And some that I do not.

It very often calls to me,
With a voice so agonizingly,
That I'm afraid to answer it,
For fear that I cannot.

What is the origin of this voice?
I really want to know,
Is it my vain imaginings,
Or is it my own ego?

From whence does it come?
I want to know,
Was it put there, long ago,
By a great Creator, to reside,
Near to me, and by my side?

From whence does it come?
I want to know,
Do you have the answer, please,
Answer my question, if you can,
And set my mind at ease.

Note: I think we all have this voice that is ever present within our mind that seems to whisper what to do and what not. The enigma is that micro second that determines which we choose. It can determine the entire course of our life in that micro second.
