Thousands of years ago the people of Israel
Were shepherds and farmers between the Jordan and sea.
Descendents of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
Surrounded by foe, further than the eye could see.

Israel, though small, left a deep impression,
On all it's enemies of greater strength, and size.
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam,
Were spin-offs of the Hebrew Bible of the wise.

When the nation of ancient Israel was finally conquered,
And ruled by persecution and degradation.
Its people never forgot the home of David,
Praying to return to their land of salvation.

During World War II, between '39 and '45,
Jewish people suffered their worst tragedy.
Five million adults and one million children,
Would forever lose their life and liberty.

On the fourteenth of May in 1948,
The state of Israel proclaimed itself a nation.
From all over the world the faithful would return,
Back to the soil of their God, and creation.
