IF I HAD WINGS
Claude Peter Dhuet

I saw a bird, high in the air-
From whence it came, I know not where-
In this great world, that we live in-
I can only guess, where it has been.

If I had wings, what would I do-
Yon bird up high, I’d do like you-
I’d fly over mountains, I’d fly over sea-
No force on earth, could hinder me.

No earthly bounds, would I allow,
As long as there’s space, in that sky up high-
God made angels, with wings like you-
Perhaps some day, I’ll have some too.
