I'll never grant my thunderous applause
To men who fight for an unworthy cause.
No matter how serious they act or look,
Or quote their party line or prayer book.
Though they may think their cause a thing sublime,
To me, they're simply wasting their time.

An elder who's devotedly pursued
The fanning of an inter-ethnic feud
May revel in the angst he's bred,
All to defend his tribe from being had,
Though he may think his cause a thing sublime,
Has royally been wasting precious time.

An angry terrorist, to his religion bound
By dark, blind faith may often think he's found
A cause to live and die for by his own bomb,
Has not been anything but dumb.
Though he may think his cause a thing sublime,
To me, he has been wasting priceless time.

Political philosophers who look so smart,
With fancy words their faulty theories impart,
From wrongful premises unwittingly depart,
And cloud your brains and rob you of your heart.
Though they may think their cause a thing sublime,
To me, they're simply wasting everybody's time.

To live to capture the elusive, phantom Truth
Should be the cause to which you should devote your youth.
And Truth is kind and loving to us all
To cruelty and violence it doesn't call.
To find and spread such Truth would be sublime-
By doing it, you shall not waste your time.
